BYD Company Limited ( BYDDF) sold the most all-electric vehicles in the world during a calendar year for the first time in the company's history. While Tesla ( TSLA) saw sales slump in Europe and China in 2025, BYD Company ( BYDDF) continues to gain traction and has now topped Tesla ( TSLA) for five straight months for global deliveries,

The UK is a small EV market in absolute global volume terms, with a few hundred thousand battery electric registrations a year against China’s millions. Even BYD’s sixfold surge in sales here last year and its rise to become the UK’s sixth biggest carmaker in December cannot explain why it delivered 620,000 more EVs globally than Tesla last year.

Sales momentum for BYD’s Sealion 06 continues to build, with combined EV and PHEV deliveries reaching 35,081 units in November. The result marks the fourth straight month above 30,000 units, following 30,483 units in August, 30,901 in September, and 33,200 in October.
