SALEM, Va. (WDBJ) - The Glenvar Highlanders are the VHSL Class 2 football state runners-up. Glenvar played just a few miles from home at Salem Stadium, taking on 2024’s state runner-up Strasburg.

SALEM, Va. (WDBJ) - It’s been more than a decade since the Highlanders appeared in the VHSL Class 2 football state championship, capturing the crown in 2014. Other than that game, Saturday will be the only state championship appearance for Glenvar in more than half a century of existence.

The Union Bears (12-0) face the Ridgeview Wolfpack (11-1) in a Class 2 Virginia (VHSL) high school football regional final Saturday afternoon at Bullitt Park in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. The winner will advance to face Glenvar (13-0) in a Class 2 state semifinal Saturday, December 6. The state championship game is set for Saturday, December 13.
